We have established good relationships with the airline industry decision-makers and the federal government of Somalia.

Rooted in this powerful foundation, we spare no time or energy in supporting all feasible aspects of supplying safe and comfortable flights to the general public.

Our Mandate

  • The Somali Air Operators is mandated to represent its Members on all issues related to the development of the airline business, policies, and regulations impacting airline business and operations
  • The organization is duly licensed and recognized by the Somali Government, the private stakeholders of the industry as the representative airline association
  • To secure adequate and effective representation in bodies dealing with air transport policies and legislation.
  • To assist in the complete organization of all airline operators of Somalia
  • To set up appropriate committees to provide training, education, and other facilities and enterprise for the advancement of airline operators of Somalia.
  • To create, develop, and maintain a comprehensive social work, in conditions of freedom, equity security, and dignity.

Somalia Ministry of Transport

We are glad to be associated with the policy formulation and implementation in the aviation industry of Somalia in technical collaboration with the Ministry of Transport.

The ministry of transport has consulted us to the following :

  • National Civil Aviation  Policy
  • National Airports Development Plan

Somali Civil Aviation Authority (SCAA)

As an essential and important stakeholder,  S.A.O attends and participates in the monthly meetings as the airline industry.

This ensures its members’ interests are taken care of in the development and amendment of civil aviation regulations

Economic Regulation

We represent our Member Airlines on matters related to the Economic Regulations of the industry.

Operations

The Somali Air Operators has a Safety Committee. This is a standing sub-committee and meets quarterly. It acts in the interest of the safety of the aviation industry and is open to all airlines, i.e both members and non-members, as well as all industrial players who have an interest in the improvement of aviation safety.

Airline Operators Association of Somalia (AOAS) priority issues.

  • The entire review of the Somalia Civil Aviation Policy.
  • Representing Airline Members in the negotiations and implementation of the Parliamentary Decision.
  • Financial issues, such as the negotiation of tariffs with regulators and monopoly service providers, in respect of Airport tariffs, the airport managers, air traffic service, weather services
  • The Somalia Civil Aviation Authority
  • The Somalia government, with respect to taxes, etc.
  • Operational issues at airports which are brought to the attention of AAS to address on behalf of its Airline Members.
  • Supporting initiatives that combat the illegal trafficking of men, women, and children.
  • Supporting skills development, training, and aviation NGO initiatives in the Somalia civil aviation industry.
  • Environmental issues, such as the reduction in aircraft noise and air pollution.
